Governors

Welcome to the Governors’ pages of the Branfil Primary School website.

The governing body is made up of a group of 22 people who have volunteered to use their skills, time and experience for the benefit of the school.

The governing body is made up of:

  • Parent governors;- elected by the parents at the school;
  • Staff governors (teachers and support staff);
  • the Headteacher;
  • Local Authority governors - governors appointed by the local authority;
  • Community governors - these governors are appointed by the governing body to represent the community that the school serves.

As Governors, our primary focus is to enable and support the Headteacher in our shared goal of providing the best education possible for the children at Branfil. We do this through meetings of the governing body and its committees and the formal and informal visits made to the school when we have an opportunity to talk to the children, staff and Headteacher.

The governing body meets at least twice a term to discuss current issues and future plans; it considers the work of the committees and receives recommendations. The committees have the opportunity to discuss and consider ideas, proposals and plans to enhance and improve the school.

I hope that you will find this website informative and enjoyable. If you have any questions for the governing body we can be contacted through the school.
